Image of Dr. Kentaro Onishi

A board-certified Sports Medicine Physician, Dr. Onishi currently practices at RegenCore while holding multiple leadership roles at UPMC. He serves as Director of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Innovation, Assistant Professor in the Departments of PM&R and Orthopedic Surgery, and Program Director of the PM&R Sports Medicine Fellowship in the Greater Pittsburgh region. His academic involvement also includes long-standing service on the MOC Task Force for the Association of Academic Physiatrists. He completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic after serving as Chief Resident at UC Irvine and a medical internship at Downey Regional Medical Center. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from Western University of Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine from Pepperdine University. His clinical expertise spans sports medicine rehabilitation, regenerative medicine, prolotherapy, PRP, and adult stem cell therapies. He is highly skilled in musculoskeletal ultrasound, EMG, biomechanics, and injury prevention. His work emphasizes clinical innovation, medical education, and research-driven patient care.
