Vicky Saliba Johnson, PT, FAAOMPT has 45 years experience as an educator and clinician in the area of manual therapy, specifically with a focus on neuromuscular facilitation and motor control training. As co-founder of The Institute of Physical Art and co- developer of the Functional Manual Therapy with Gregory S Johnson, Vicky and Gregg have developed a curriculum of over 20 courses which address the mechanical, neuromuscular and motor control aspects of human movement. Building on her lifes work correlating alignment to function, Saliba began researching posture in 2010 at Stanford University with a specific focus on identifying an alignment which supports CoreFirst® strategies of movement. She completed two studies at Stanford which demonstrated a direct correlation between a person’s alignment and their ability to automatically engage the core during against resistance and better translate force in a standing posture. She then published the valid and reliable Saliba Postural Classification System in 2016 and did additional research at the University of New Mexico to determine its reliability with student PTs and new professionals. Saliba Johnson has co-authored several chapters in various Physical Therapy textbooks and has presented at multiple state and national conferences, including IFOMPT in 1994 and the World Conference for Physical Therapy in Amsterdam June of 2011. Vicky’s passion is teacing, both professionals and patients.
